Rest Day...
Thursday can be a strange day for me. It can either be one where I work out for hours or the complete contrary where I just rest up.
We are doing this Men's Health Survival of the Fittest this weekend, so I decided to just take today a little easier and get some carbs into my system.
For me how I perform is usually linked to what I have eaten a couple of days before.
I'm not expecting a great deal from Saturday, I've had to deliberately stay off running because my achilles has been so sore. So going to stick to a jog gently between obstacles and enjoy it as much as possible.
Today I put some client through dry training for front crawl. We used the drills for high elbows running off 7x 30seconds, 2 minutes on 2 minutes recovery and then finishing with a tempo drill where I set the timer for a 1.3 sec stroke and then a 1.6 second stroke.
The idea behind this is there is no true glide phase in the stroke, so we look to the tempo and number of strokes in the length.
The two clients I did it with today found it incredibly tough, which made me reassess my Tuesday pool session where I really suffered with tired shoulders, maybe from the drills the night before.
