Making a living or making a dying?

I'm writing an article at the moment about being resilient to different types of stress and living your life.

So what should we be aiming for?

Ideally a sense of wellbeing and feeling healthy should include loads of energy, feeling emotionally balanced, mentally sharp and creative, and the ability to cope with stress.

Instead I think most of us are permanently in a state of being either totally knackered or needing coffee or other stimulants to get us through the day.

So what can we do about this?

Up to now I have always taken off at least a week every 12 week. I usually do this to recharge my batteries and catch up on all the sleep I've lost. usually the first couple of days I sleep fine, then the nightmares start, these can last anything from a couple of nights up to a week, then I start recovering.

I'm not sure what this actually is but someone once told me it was my subconsious cataloguing the previous months, which might actually be true because many of the dreams are very vivid and usually relate to something that might have happened in the previous months.

As I am researching this article lots of questions are being raised:

How does my body make energy?
How do I react to stress?
What is the state of my mind?
What nutrients and chemicals do I respond to and which have I evolved to feel I have to have?
What throws my body out of whack?

I'm going to spend time over the next few months looking into these questions and finding out more. These will ultimately hold the key to my long term quality of life so they're important.
