On the 20th June 1994 my dad was killed by a drunk driver, so this was pretty poignant for me. Allegedly it was the second time he'd killed someone drink driving. He got a year. Basically he used the payout our family got as his 'swap' for prison time.
I hold very strong views on drink driving. In my personal view there shouldn't be any limit. It should be no alcohol if you're driving. It's that simple. Too many people are killed by people that don't give a monkeys.
1 year ban? 2 year ban?
3 year for first offence. Lifetime for second. If you kill someone, sorry lifetime ban.
Now the man that killed my dad was 6x over the limit. I actually see this as less guilty than someone who in just below the limit or slightly over.
If you've had 3 pints you still know what you're doing enough to say, I'll catch a cab. 6x could mean you are 18 pints long. If I was 18 pints long I wouldn't know up from down, so THAT drunk is diminished responsibility, but someone gave him the beer and someone ALLOWED him to get in a car.
So we've kind of started on some law issues today, so I might as well continue.
Talking on the phone while driving. No.
Get in the car and drive around 8.30-9am and then again at 3pm ish, you will sit behind people who are all over the road, paying no attention, doing U-turns in places that beggar belief. 10/10 they are mothers on their mobiles.
I'd like to see the police or local councils allow freelance evidence gatherers. These would be people who can take photographic or video evidence of bad driving, speeding, talking on the phone etc. They get a commission on every photograph they take.
Today the trains were severely disrupted by vandalism bringing down overhead power lines near Hendon.
Ok people that steal cables and wiring effectively endanger our lives yet their sentences are laughable.
Almost the same as the bunch who decided it was ok to keep people slaves. I think the sex slave people got 4 years.
4 years??
So take women, make them sex slave workers, rape them and keep them captives for years, and they get 4 years?
NO. That's not right.
Slavery in any form should carry a life sentence. You decide that its ok to take someone else's freedom, you should lose yours forever. If these people cite it's against their human rights, I think they've already proved they don't belong in today's society. Perhaps we should bring back Roman arenas just for them and their victims can decide whether they should be fed to the lions, or spared.
Reminds me of that scene in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The one where she tattoos her rapist.
I wonder if that might be a good punishment. Certain criminals get tattooed. Try and hide that.
I know this sounds extreme but I feel very passionately that our laws protect certain elements of society while allowing others to run riot.

Over the last few weeks I've been talking about opening up dialogues so we have a greater understanding. The better understanding we have the more we can start to address how to really get to grips with the issues of today. Loads of things I'd like to understand...
Well I'd like to understand the Police a bit better. My lifetime experience of the Police isn't good...
Harassed constantly as a teenager. Spoken to like a child when I was caught speeding twice.
The rest.
Burgled 3x Police didn't even show up.
Kids vandalising our cars. Police called and told us they'd be there in 3 hours. Right. Didn't show.
Attacked and stabbed with a screwdriver. Police turned up. Nothing.
Hit by a car on my motorbike, who then did a runner. Nothing, lack of evidence. Even though I had witnesses and the driver's registration number.
Guy drove into the side of me, and did a runner. Nothing, lack of evidence. Even though I had witnesses and there driver's registration number again.
A girlfriend of mine used to work in a Police station in Kent, she said that if someone showed up and reported a crime, they sent them away, after a time they write the crime up as SOLVED. They would sometimes send people away 3 times... to boost their stats.
THAT is criminal.

26 minute cycle with 8x30 second sprints gradually increasing resistance.
200m @5% incline then a 20 rep exercise repeat x15
