First day back...
It's been a while.
Back in December I decided to buy a new computer. Sounds simple enough. But then my new one didn't have all the bits and pieces on it the old one had.
Passwords, files, applications and all my web addresses. Applications that required special numbers that you can only get from the manufacturer, and it went on and on.
Then we had Christmas. A couple of weeks off is plenty of time to sort everything out.
Wrong!
I don't think we had our first free day planned until the 2nd January, which abruptly came to an end after a 9am phone call from the accountant. 3rd January then.
So what's happened over the last few weeks that might be worth talking about?
Let's start with what I seem to know most about, training.
Just before Christmas Lucy allowed me one of my pressies, a Nike+ Fuelband. On the website chat they said most people are fairly committed to it within 4 days. I'd agree. First couple of days I spent finding my feet then since then I have been off and running.
Those first 2 days I missed my goal of 3,000 points; the first because I'd only just purchased and set up the band and by the time I'd started wearing it, I had no chance of making it; the second because I really don't do enough on my days off.
Cue my first AH HA moment.
Every time I go away I gain 5-10kgs in 14 days. I train 2 hours a day, everyday and eat extremely healthily with usually one or two puddings per week, and I barely drink. So I am always totally baffled as to why.
Now it's obvious. On my work days I burn 6,500+ Nike fuel points (I have no idea what this means, but I treat it as an arbitrary datum point, essentially it's the number I measure myself against). My last week at work before the holidays including the weekend...33,500. By comparison 22,000 and 24,000 over the two weeks off.
Most nights over the holidays by 9pm I still had at least a 1000 points to burn so 20-30 minutes of shadow boxing later I would reach my goal. That's even after a 2 hour workout each morning.
At present I am on day 22 of a winning streak, and I really don't want to lose it it and have to try and get myself back there.
I spent the last couple of weeks at work doing the Rage workout from the Adonis guys. It's meant to be a 2 week workout, I stretched it to 4 but towards the end of last week I started to really feel myself slowing down and struggling, so I took 4 days off and started back this morning.
The next Adonis competition starts at the end of this month and I have agreed to do it at the same time as one of my clients does the Venus version. I'm looking forward to it.
Last thing that's worth a mention is the myfitnesspal app. Started using it yesterday and I am impressed. Check it out.
Next week I am going to relaunch my weekly newletters so please start letting me know what you would like to see.
